Beirut: Following an expanded meeting at the Grand Serail, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam urged Lebanese citizens to prioritize the nation's interest during the current challenging times. He emphasized that this approach would help Lebanon navigate potential complications.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam chaired the meeting to assess the readiness of institutions and ensure the regularity of public services and facilities. He assured the public that diplomatic efforts are underway to protect Lebanon from regional tensions, which he noted are not unprecedented. The Prime Minister also highlighted that preemptive measures have been in place for some time.
Salam reassured citizens that there is no cause for alarm, as sufficient supplies of food, medicine, and fuel are available for at least two months. He called on people to disregard rumors and confirmed that supply routes remain operational. Additionally, Middle East Airlines will continue its flight operations, ensuring connectivity.
He urged citizens to act sensibly and discouraged hoarding and price increases. Salam affirmed his readiness to take necessary actions to prevent monopolistic behavior and maintain stability in the market.
Highlighting ongoing diplomatic engagements, Salam noted efforts to shield Lebanon from regional conflicts. He mentioned contacting Arab counterparts and implementing security measures to protect diplomatic missions within the country.
Concluding his address, Salam stated that the airport remains open despite some flight cancellations, with the national carrier continuing its operations.
