According to Anadolu Agency, Venezuela has demanded 'unconditional respect' for its airspace following US President Donald Trump's declaration that Venezuelan airspace and the surrounding region would be closed "in its entirety." A statement by Venezuela's Foreign Ministry stressed that the nation's airspace is protected under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and referred to an article of the 1944 Chicago Convention, asserting that every state has exclusive and absolute sovereignty over its airspace. The Bolivarian Government declared it would not accept orders, threats, or interventions from any foreign power.

US President Donald Trump announced that the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela should be considered "closed in its entirety," escalating tensions between Washington and Venezuela. Trump addressed airlines, pilots, drug dealers, and human traffickers via his social media company, Truth Social, warning them to regard Venezuelan airspace as closed. This development comes amid increasing US military operations in Latin America, fueling speculation of a potential attack on Venezuela.
