Sharjah: The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (UAEICP) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation through a single window system for the efficient processing of business licenses in Sharjah.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement is designed to streamline and develop the procedures for issuing and renewing licenses for economic establishments, leveraging modern technologies to improve regulatory services and customer experiences. The MoU was signed by Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, and Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shamsi, Executive Director of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to foster an institutional partnership between government agencies and align with best practices for accelerating and linking government procedures in an integrated d
igital system. Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud emphasized that the MoU underscores SEDD’s commitment to developing government services in accordance with the vision of the UAE’s leadership to enhance the business environment and attract investments.
The implementation of the single window system is expected to facilitate procedures, improve interagency cooperation, and enhance performance efficiency, thereby providing fast and distinguished services to the business community. This system also aims to support the national economy by creating an investment-friendly environment, exchanging expertise, and improving the management and organization of business operations.
Brigadier Arif Mohammed Al Shamsi highlighted UAEICP’s role in supporting the business environment’s attractiveness through legislative powers that contribute to sustainable development and enhance the UAE’s competitiveness on a global scale. He noted that the Authority would assist SEDD by offering various services such as granting entry permits,
initial approvals, and issuing establishment cards through the single window system, thus ensuring quick and high-quality service delivery to clients and investors by activating the electronic link with SEDD.
