Sharjah Ruler Establishes Judicial Council with Emiri Decree

SHARJAH: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree to establish a new Judicial Council in the Emirate of Sharjah. The council will be led by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and will serve as the supreme authority overseeing the judicial system in the emirate. According to Emirates News Agency, the Decree stipulates the creation of the 'Judicial Council,' which will possess the legal personality and capacity necessary to fulfill its objectives and exercise its powers. This body will operate with financial and administrative independence and will play a pivotal role in assisting the Ruler of Sharjah in the management and organization of the judiciary. The Judicial Council will be chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi and include members such as the Chairperson of the Judicial Department, the Chairperson of the Sharjah Government Legal Department, the Chairperson of the Court of Cassation, and the Chairperson of the Judicial Inspection Department. Two additional members of the judiciary will be selected by the Judicial Council itself. A law will be enacted to organize the Judicial Council in line with the legislative procedures of the Emirate.
