Sheikh Al-Aql: Pope’s Visit a Beacon of Hope Amid Challenges


Beirut: Sheikh Al-Aql of the Druze community, Sheikh Sami Abil-Mona, described the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV as a moment of ‘joy, hope, and great promise’ for Lebanon during its ongoing security, social, and economic crises.



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, in a statement via “Sawt Kol Lebanon,” Sheikh Abil-Mona emphasized the significance of the timing, saying the visit carries a message of challenge to current realities and that the Pope can be a messenger of peace. ‘Blessed are the peacemakers,’ he said, calling for collective efforts to continue the momentum toward peace.



He praised the planned spiritual gathering in Martyrs’ Square, describing it as a reflection of unity in diversity. He also highlighted the meeting at the Papal Embassy in Harissa as a symbol of unity and shared purpose, affirming: ‘Lebanese people are one heart and one hand.’



He concluded by launching the slogan of the current phase: ‘National spiritual partnership,’ calling it a framework for reform, to be implemented through developmental and economic projects to support the return of the displaced and emigrants.
