Sleiman Urges Hezbollah to Disarm for Lebanon’s Stability

Beirut: Former President Michel Sleiman issued a statement urging Hezbollah to make a critical national decision to ensure Lebanon's stability. He congratulated the Lebanese people and government for conducting municipal and mayoral elections, aligning with democratic principles. He highlighted the significance of these elections coinciding with the anniversary of the 2000 Liberation Day and reflected on his own election as President of the Republic on May 25, 2008. In his inaugural address, Sleiman emphasized the need for a state-led defense strategy to utilize the resistance's capabilities effectively and prevent internal conflicts from undermining its achievements.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Sleiman stressed the importance of Hezbollah taking decisive action in light of the recent challenges Lebanon has faced due to the 'support war'. He called on Hezbollah to disband its military organization and transfer its weapons to the state, viewing this step as essential for safeguarding the nation and preserving the accomplishments attained thus far.
