Social Security Corporation Marks 46th Anniversary, Surpasses 1.5 Million Active Subscribers

AMMAN: The Social Security Corporation (SSC) commemorated its 46th anniversary with a notable milestone of 1.546 million active subscribers under its social protection programs, according to a press statement by the Director General, Dr. Mohammad Tarawneh. According to Jordan News Agency, Tarawneh highlighted the SSC's commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all workers in the Kingdom by ensuring the provision of pension salaries and extensive insurance benefits as outlined in the Social Security Law. On the occasion of the corporation's anniversary, he emphasized the role of the SSC as a "beacon and a fundamental pillar of social security and protection in the Kingdom." The Director General detailed the SSC's efforts to not only maintain but also expand its coverage, particularly focusing on the low-wage labor groups across various economic sectors. The current statistics show a robust participation in the voluntary subscribers category, with nearly 99,500 individuals opting in. Furthermore, the cumulat ive number of retirees benefiting from the SSC's programs has reached over 346,000. Additionally, around 330,000 insured individuals received unemployment insurance allowances with over 425,000 disbursement cases recorded for this purpose. The maternity insurance also showed significant activity, benefiting approximately 78,000 insured persons with more than 111,000 disbursement cases. Dr. Tarawneh reiterated the SSC's ongoing objective to ensure the financial stability of the organization, which is crucial for supporting its social and humanitarian mission across current and future generations.
