Khartoum: Over 14 million people have been displaced by the war in Sudan, either inside or outside its borders, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Tuesday. This figure marks the largest displacement crisis globally this year. According to Jordan News Agency, IOM Director-General Amy Pope stated at a press conference that 11 million of these individuals are internally displaced, while 3.1 million have sought refuge in neighboring countries. She highlighted that 200,000 of the displaced have fled since September. Pope confirmed that half of Sudan's population currently requires assistance, as they struggle to access essential services such as shelter, clean drinking water, and healthcare. She also noted that more than half of the displaced population comprises women, with more than a quarter being children under the age of five.
