HANOI: Super Typhoon Yagi, Asia's most powerful storm this year, hit northern Vietnam on Saturday, forcing authorities to shutter 4 airports, the meteorological agency said. Generating winds of up to 149 km/h, the typhoon struck Quang Ninh province and the coastal city of Haiphong, downing thousands of trees, blowing away boats midsea, and tearing off metal rooftops and billboards. It also caused power outages across tens of thousands of homes. Source: Emirates News Agency
