Damascus: The Syrian Arab Army's Operations Command announced that its forces have taken control of two oil fields from Kurdish factions in northern Syria. In a statement to the state news agency SANA, the army said it had secured the Safyan oil field, the Rasafa junction, and the Thawra oil field near the city of Tabqa.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Syrian army warned residents in an area of Tabqa, west of the Euphrates River, to evacuate ahead of planned strikes. A Syrian military source told Sky News Arabia that the army's second phase of operations will focus on the Tishreen Dam area west of the Euphrates and its surroundings.
The source expressed Damascus' hope for the full implementation of the March agreement, which it says would prevent further bloodshed and preserve Syria's unity. The Syrian army also declared areas west of the Euphrates a closed military zone after Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) units allegedly targeted government troops during the implementation of an agreement for the SDF's withdrawal from west of the Euphrates.
