Damascus: Syria's Interior Ministry on Tuesday said two explosions occurred Tuesday near the Tourism Ministry in Damascus, injuring 18 people, including four police officers.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the ministry reported that internal security forces had detected two explosive devices during field operations. Specialized units began preparing to dismantle them, but both exploded during the process.
Security forces cordoned off the area, while specialized units began sweeping and securing the site. Initial inspection showed the devices were primitive: one placed inside a parked car and the other inside a garbage container.
The ministry said the blast site was outside the security zone for the French president's residence and posed no direct threat to the residence or official visit schedule.
