Beirut: Progressive Socialist Party head, MP Taymour Jumblatt, emphasized the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement and implementing Resolution 1701 as the sole measures to prevent Lebanon from being drawn into renewed military conflicts.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Jumblatt stressed that Israel must withdraw from positions where it remains stationed to allow the Lebanese state to fully assert its authority. He emphasized that only the state can prevent security breaches and maintain stability in the south. Jumblatt condemned ongoing Israeli violations against Lebanon and expressed hope that the government would continue efforts to strengthen state institutions that protect the rights of all Lebanese citizens.
Jumblatt's remarks were made during a joint meeting at Al-Mukhtara Palace, involving members of the Democratic Gathering and the Progressive Socialist Party's internal representatives. The meeting focused on discussing general and regional issues, party affairs, and upcoming elections. Attendees included MPs Marwan Hamadeh, Akram Shehayeb, Bilal Abdallah, Raji Al-Saad, Hadi Abu Al-Hassan, Wael Abu Faour, PSP's Secretary General Dhafer Nasser, MP Jumblatt's advisor Hussam Harb, and various partisans.
Separately, MP Jumblatt received a delegation from the Independence Movement, led by MP Michel Moawad, to commemorate the 48th anniversary of the martyrdom of Kamal Jumblatt. The meeting, attended by Democratic Gathering MPs and officials, touched on the general political situation, and the delegation laid a floral wreath on Kamal Jumblatt's tomb.
Moawad expressed a tribute, highlighting the historical significance of the day. He noted that the anniversary represents a deep connection with Al-Mukhtara, rooted in shared history and loss. Moawad remarked on the justice served with the fall of the Assad regime and the arrest of those responsible for Kamal Jumblatt's assassination, stressing the importance of standing up for justice.
On Saturday, Jumblatt also met with MP Nadim Gemayel and a delegation at Al-Mukhtara, where they laid a floral wreath at the shrine of Martyr Kamal Jumblatt.
