Bkirki: MP Tony Frangieh, accompanied by Attorney Ziad al-Khazen, visited Bkirki on Sunday to participate in the Divine Liturgy led by Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi. Following the service, discussions focused on the new government's confidence votes and its impending tasks.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Patriarch al-Rahi emphasized the importance of the new government receiving confidence votes to enable it to commence its responsibilities effectively. MP Frangieh underscored the significance of Bkirki as a pivotal national juncture and reiterated his party's support for President Aoun's term, emphasizing the opportunity for Lebanon to rebuild and modernize its institutions.
Frangieh clarified that the Independent National Bloc's confidence in the government is contingent not on its representation in the cabinet but on the contents of the ministerial statement. He noted that the government's approach should adhere to unified standards among Lebanese forces, stressing the need for unity and highlighting the presence of competent individuals in the cabinet who can foster hope for the Lebanese people.
Addressing recent attacks on UNIFIL forces, Frangieh deemed them "unacceptable" and called for justice to prevail. He emphasized maintaining strong relations with the international community, particularly the United Nations, and advocated for addressing issues through dialogue and political acumen. Frangieh also stressed the need for the state to suppress tensions and uphold the rule of law.
