TRENDS Research and Advisory Highlights AI’s Role in Sustainable Development at Brazil-Africa Forum 2024

BRASILIA: At the Brazil-Africa Forum 2024, TRENDS Research and Advisory, serving as the diamond sponsor, underscored the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) in fostering sustainable development and economic growth in Africa. The forum, which attracted global leaders and thinkers, focused on AI's potential to enhance digital and financial inclusion across developing nations. According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of TRENDS, and other notable attendees such as Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, and Martin Mbeng, Dean of the African Heads of Mission in Brazil, discussed the transformative impact of AI. They explored how investments in AI infrastructure and human capacity building could dramatically improve living standards and economic opportunities worldwide, particularly in Africa. During the forum, Dr. Al Ali emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among think tanks to harness AI's benefits effectively. He highlighted the World Bank's findings o n digital transformation driving development in Africa and noted the UAE's role in supporting African nations to develop their digital infrastructures. This collaboration is aimed at boosting their digital economy and enabling them to leverage modern technologies for growth. The sessions at the forum also addressed the importance of agricultural development, renewable energy, and infrastructure, with a focus on public-private partnerships and the exchange of knowledge and technology between Brazil and Africa. Discussions also covered the critical role of technology in enhancing financial inclusion for millions of Africans who lack access to traditional financial services. On the sidelines of the forum, TRENDS awarded the TRENDS Research Medal to several dignitaries, including Mauro Vieira and João Bosco Monte, in recognition of their contributions to scientific research and international cooperation.
