Turkey Implements Export Restrictions to Palestinian Authority to Curb Indirect Trade with Israel

ANKARA: Turkey has introduced a new measure requiring that exports to Palestinian Authority areas come with an official letter from the Palestinian Ministry of Economy, confirming the goods are meant solely for the local market. This move aims to prevent Turkish goods from reaching Israel indirectly. According to Maan News Agency, the decision follows reports indicating that some goods initially exported to the Palestinian Authority were subsequently re-exported to Israel. The Turkish government seeks to ensure that its exports are utilized as intended, enforcing stricter controls to uphold the integrity of trade agreements with the Palestinian territories.
