UAE Participates in 27th General Assembly of Association of National Olympic Committees.

Cascais: Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, led the UAE delegation at the 27th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) held in Cascais, Portugal. The assembly convened from 30th October to 1st November as part of the ANOC meeting series. According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation included Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee, and Major General Dr. Muhammad Al Mur, a member of the Committee's Board of Directors. The meeting began with a tribute to several late sports leaders who contributed to the Olympic movement, followed by an address from Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, to delegates from national Olympic committees globally. The assembly's agenda comprised the approval of the minutes from the previous General Assembly held in Seoul in 2022 and reports from the ANOC President and Secretary-General. Discussions also included reports on t he 2023 ANOC World Beach Games, updates from the Indonesian Olympic Committee, decisions by the ANOC Executive Board, a presentation from continental sports federations, and updates on the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Attendees received reports from the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Testing Agency, along with presentations by Deloitte and the Centre for Digital Leadership. An update on the ANOC TV Digital Acceleration Programme was also provided. Further reports reviewed by assembly members included updates from ANOC committees and working groups, information from the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committees, a report from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and discussions on ANOC's sustainability strategy, commercial opportunities, and strategic plan. An update from the International World Games Association was also discussed.
