UAE Sends Medical Supplies to Lebanese Refugees in Syria as Part of Humanitarian Efforts

Abu dhabi: An aircraft from the United Arab Emirates has delivered medical supplies to Lebanese refugees in Syria and Syrians returning to their homeland, as part of an urgent humanitarian response. This operation is a significant component of the 'UAE Stands with Lebanon' campaign, marking the UAE's ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid. Since October 4, the UAE has sent 14 aircraft with aid, including 12 to Lebanon and two to Syria. According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE's humanitarian initiatives are carried out under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and guided by Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who leads the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. These efforts aim to support Lebanese communities affected by the ongoing crisis. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations, emphasized the UAE's dedication to aid ing the Lebanese people. He highlighted the country's commitment to humanitarian principles and values of solidarity and cooperation, reflecting the diverse makeup of UAE society. The UAE aims to foster security, stability, and prosperity, aiding communities affected by ongoing conflicts. Additionally, Al Shamsi stated that the UAE plans to dispatch 40 tonnes of food supplies to Lebanese refugees in Syria and returning Syrians. The Emirates Red Crescent, in collaboration with the UAE Aid Coordination Office in Syria, is tasked with distributing these food supplies to those most in need. The International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council oversees the relief aid delivery, coordinating with humanitarian institutions and Emirati charity organizations, alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international partners.
