UK Implements Sanctions on Illegal Israeli Settler Outposts and Supporting Organizations

LONDON: The United Kingdom has introduced sanctions targeting three illegal settler outposts and four organizations linked to escalating violence in the West Bank, aimed at holding perpetrators accountable and stabilizing the region. According to Kuwait News Agency, Commonwealth and Development Office, these sanctions respond to a significant increase in settler violence, which has been documented by the UN with over 1,400 attacks since October 2023. The violence is particularly intense during the olive harvest season, a critical economic and cultural period for Palestinians. The Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, emphasized the UK's commitment to justice and peace in the region, criticizing the Israeli government's failure to curb these violent acts, which have even targeted schools and families. The sanctioned outposts include Tirzah Valley Farm, Meitarim, and Shuvi Eretz Outpost, known for their roles in promoting and facilitating violence. The organizations facing sanctions are Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva, a rel igious school; Hashomer Yosh, a group providing support to illegal outposts; Torat Lechima, a charity financing outpost; and Amana, a company involved in constructing these outposts. These entities have been implicated in severe human rights violations against Palestinian communities, aiming to forcibly displace them and seize their lands.
