According to Jordan News Agency, during a press briefing in New York, UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq highlighted the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's historic responsibility in safeguarding these sacred locations. "The Secretary-General reiterates the urgent need to maintain the status quo at the holy sites in Jerusalem, bearing in mind the special and historic role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as custodian of the holy sites in Jerusalem," Haq stated.
