Gaza: UN Human Rights Chief Volker Trk has voiced his concern regarding the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of hundreds. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the recent violence has exacerbated the already dire situation in the region.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Trk expressed his horror at the events, stating that the ongoing violence over the past 18 months has demonstrated that military action cannot resolve the crisis. He emphasized the necessity of a political settlement that adheres to international law, warning that continued military force by Israel would only increase the suffering of the Palestinian population already facing catastrophic conditions.
Trk called for an immediate end to the hostilities, urging the release of hostages and all those arbitrarily detained, emphasizing that peace efforts should be prioritized to prevent further civilian suffering. He appealed to all influential parties to use their power to achieve lasting peace in the region.
