Geneva: One million children in the Gaza Strip are enduring extreme hardships, with approximately 40 children losing their lives each day over the past year, according to the United Nations. According to Maan News Agency, UNICEF spokesperson James Elder highlighted the ongoing suffering faced by children in the region. He described Gaza as "the true embodiment of hell on earth" for its young residents, indicating that their situation has deteriorated since the outbreak of the Israeli conflict. Elder reported that the estimated death toll for children has surpassed 14,100, equating to about 35 to 40 children being killed daily. Elder emphasized the reliability of these figures, which suggest a total of over 42,400 casualties, with many more potentially trapped beneath the debris. He noted that surviving children are subjected to severe conditions, frequently experiencing displacement due to persistent violence and forced evacuations. The children and their families face significant threats to their safety, as they find no refuge in schools, shelters, hospitals, or overcrowded camps, Elder stated. The entire Gaza Strip is gripped by deprivation, exacerbating the plight of its youngest inhabitants.
