Beirut: In an issued statement on Monday, UNIFIL congratulated Lebanon on the formation of a new Government. "Peacekeepers will actively support the Salam Government in its efforts to fully implement resolution 1701, including through our strong partnership with the Lebanese Army and other security institutions," the statement affirmed.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, UNIFIL and their peacekeepers from 48 countries reaffirmed their support for the Lebanese Armed Forces in their re-deployment in southern Lebanon. The statement highlighted the importance of government institutions in extending State authority and assisting people in returning to their villages to begin rebuilding.
UNIFIL emphasized its commitment to supporting stability, which would facilitate a return to normalcy for those living on both sides of the Blue Line. The organization stated that it remains devoted to ensuring security and stability through impartial monitoring of all parties' commitments under resolution 1701.
The statement concluded with UNIFIL expressing its anticipation for continued collaboration with the new Lebanese Government to achieve lasting peace and sustainable recovery.
