Naqoura: UNIFIL expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the families of the personnel who lost their lives in yesterday's explosion in Naqoura, and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the incident occurred while LAF personnel were inspecting a fallen IDF drone.
This tragic loss highlights the risks faced by the LAF as they take on greater responsibilities in securing southern Lebanon. As reaffirmed by the Security Council in resolution 2790, the parties are to ensure full respect for the Blue Line and a full cessation of hostilities.
LAF's full deployment across the south is central to resolution 1701 with UNIFIL coordinating closely with Lebanese authorities in support.
