Union Association for Human Rights Showcases UAE Humanitarian Efforts at AidEx in Geneva

GENEVA: The Union Association for Human Rights participated in the AidEx 2024 conference in Geneva, Switzerland, highlighting the UAE's extensive humanitarian initiatives and relief efforts in conflict-affected areas around the world. The event served as a platform for the UAE to showcase its role as a pivotal hub for international humanitarian operations. According to Emirates News Agency, the two-day conference, which coincided with Development2030, united international development actors to discuss sustainable development goals. AidEx featured advancements in technology, relief programmes, and strategies for international humanitarian support, along with high-level panels and workshops focused on effective aid delivery in conflict zones. On the conference sidelines, the Union Association for Human Rights emphasized the UAE's contributions and introduced key institutions involved in global humanitarian services. Dubai International Humanitarian City, known as the world's largest humanitarian logistics cen tre, was presented as a strategic asset for hosting both humanitarian organisations and commercial entities that provide logistics support for international relief efforts. The association highlighted several initiatives by UAE leadership aimed at alleviating suffering in conflict zones, including "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3" in Gaza. This initiative has been recognized by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, with the UAE ranking first in the Arab world and second globally for humanitarian aid provided to Gaza in 2024. The UAE's ongoing humanitarian efforts in countries such as Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Lebanon were also underscored during the conference. Led by Maryam Al Ahmadi, Vice President of the Association, the delegation's involvement in AidEx reflects a commitment to building partnerships with civil society organisations worldwide, reinforcing the UAE's leadership in humanitarian aid and sustainable development.
