Gaza: Adnan Abu Hasna, a spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), revealed on Saturday that hundreds of thousands of people in the Gaza Strip are "starving," according to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA).
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Abu Hasna stated that "300,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing grave danger," with residents suffering from "hunger or under bombardment." He emphasized the severity of the situation, describing it as "an unprecedented famine," and urged Israel to "urgently allow the entry of humanitarian aid." Additionally, he called for international intervention to prevent further displacement and confinement of Palestinians in the Rafah area.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini highlighted the dire circumstances in a post on the X platform, explaining that the aid entering Gaza is "a needle in a haystack." He noted that Palestinians have endured "hunger, deprivation, and lack of basic necessities for more than 11 weeks" due to the ongoing conflict. Lazzarini underscored that "the effective and sustained flow of aid is the only way to prevent the catastrophe from worsening."
