Baghdad (NINA) – The US embassy called on the government for an urgent and in-depth investigation to arrest and prosecute those responsible for yesterday’s events.
In a statement, the embassy expressed its deep distress over reports of civilians being killed during a march yesterday in Baghdad.
It affirmed its support for Iraqis in gathering and expressing their views peacefully without fear of acts of violence or retaliation.
It indicated: It is imperative that the government conduct an urgent and in-depth investigation in order to arrest and prosecute those responsible for inciting and carrying out violent acts. / End
