Washington: U.S. Vice President JD Vance has warned of a scenario he considers "not unlikely," in which European nuclear powers, such as France or the United Kingdom, could come under the influence of leaders "close to political Islam" within the next 15 years, according to Sky News Arabia.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, in an interview with the British news website, UnHerd, Vance expressed his belief that this catastrophic scenario "is not unlikely" over the next decade and a half. He highlighted the potential risks to European nuclear security under the influence of political Islam, emphasizing the unique cultural, religious, and economic ties the United States shares with Europe compared to other regions.
Vance noted the importance of addressing these potential threats due to shared history and cultural values between Europe and the United States. He stated that these ties necessitate certain ethical discussions, which might not be as pertinent with other nations, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Vice President's remarks underscore the significance of maintaining vigilance over the political landscape in Europe, particularly concerning its nuclear capabilities.
