AMMAN: The World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have issued a call for additional funding to meet the growing humanitarian needs in Lebanon, which have worsened due to the recent Israeli military actions. The conflict has resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of individuals, pushing the agencies to prepare for escalating demands for aid. According to Jordan News Agency, the joint statement by Ted Chaiban, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, and Carl Skau, WFP Deputy Executive Director, emphasized the urgent necessity for increased financial support to manage the crisis. "We are preparing for the reality that the needs are increasing," they stated. The officials underscored the importance of receiving additional funding that is free from any conditions to effectively respond to the dire situation. The call for support comes as both organizations grapple with the challenges of providing sufficient food, water, and shelter to the displaced populations. The ap peal aims to enhance the capabilities of WFP and UNICEF in delivering timely and effective aid to those affected by the conflict in Lebanon.
