ABU DHABI: The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination has honoured the cast of the classic Emirati television series "Ashhafan" by staging a theatrical adaptation titled "Ashhafan Family." This event, held at the Ahmed Mangoush Theatre, was supported by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and Akkasa Media Production, and featured actors from People of Determination. According to Emirates News Agency, the adaptation comes 48 years after the original series first aired, aiming to reconnect audiences with the beloved characters of the 1976 Gulf drama. The organisation emphasized the adaptation's role as a creative and inclusive platform that highlights the value of art in promoting social cohesion and human values. The event underscored the contributions of People of Determination in the arts. Foundation officials noted the importance of recognising the series' legacy, with original cast members expressing gratitude for the acknowledgment. They praised Zayed Higher Organisation for its efforts in e mpowering People of Determination across various sectors. The event was attended by key figures such as Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of the Foundation; Abdullah Al Kamali, Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector; and Nafea Al Hammadi, Executive Director of Support Services. Actors and relatives of the late cast members were also present. Directed by Mohammed Saeed and written by Abdullah Saleh, "Ashhafan Family" features both original and emerging actors, including Sultan Al Siyabi, Ghaya Said, Muzna Ahmed, and Mariam Hamdan. The play addresses contemporary challenges facing Gulf families, particularly the influence of social media on family dynamics, while celebrating the Emirati cultural legacy. Through this initiative, the Zayed Higher Organisation reaffirms its commitment to integrating People of Determination into the arts, fostering independence and creativity. Their Talented Determination initiative, launched in Abu Dhabi, continues to nurture artistic talent, contributin g to global recognition and cultural diversity.
