GAZA CITY: The World Health Organization has reported that the ongoing conflict in the northern Gaza Strip has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 health workers, describing the situation as catastrophic and beyond description. The targeting of medical facilities has severely impacted the ability to provide necessary healthcare, with over 15,000 individuals requiring treatment outside of Gaza. According to Maan News Agency, the WHO spokesman emphasized the severe challenges faced by medical centers, particularly the targeting of devices that supply oxygen. The spokesman highlighted that while UN agencies are striving to deliver support, achieving a ceasefire remains a political decision that is urgently needed to restore healthcare capabilities in the region. The WHO continues to advocate for a ceasefire to enable hospitals in Gaza to deliver essential health services, underscoring the critical need for international intervention to halt the fighting and allow for the provision of medical care.
