The Prisoners' Club stated that the total number of arrests documented since the beginning of this year amounted to more than (5,200) citizens, including more than (500) detainees in Jenin and its camp, which are subject to continuous aggression, as the state of struggle there continues to escalate.
The highest rate of arrests was in the month of April 2023, amounting to more than (900) arrests, while the highest rate of arrests in Jenin was in July 2023, during which the occupation forces carried out mass arrest campaigns during the aggression. Which was carried out by the occupation forces on Jenin and its camp, and there were (151) cases.
The Prisoners' Club reiterates that the occupation forces used all types of weapons and systematic policies to abuse detainees and their families, in addition to the field executions that we witness during arrest operations, and the increasing number of wounded detainees as a result of shooting operations during arrest campaigns.
The Prisoner's Club pointed out that the most targeted groups are the families of prisoners and martyrs, as the occupation continues to pursue the crime of (collective punishment) against them, which today constitutes the most prominent established crimes, and is used on a large scale, and may extend to the level of a town, camp, and city, in addition to targeting families. Resistance fighters, intimidating them, threatening them, and arresting them, especially since the numbers of those persecuted have increased, with the escalation of the state of struggle and the Palestinians’ pursuit of self-determination.
In the context of this crime, the Prisoner’s Club points out that the crime was committed yesterday evening, Tuesday, in Jenin camp, against the elderly citizen, Hussein Ahmed Zidan (65 years old), who was arrested by the occupation forces with the aim of pressuring one of his sons to surrender himself. During his arrest, he suffered a heart attack, and later... The occupation forces released him; Note that this case is among dozens of cases in which the families of resistance fighters and detainees were subjected to the crime (collective punishment) and a number of systematic crimes, in addition to the continuous incursions and raids on their homes.
The Prisoners' Club points out that the occupation forces have also significantly escalated the sabotage operations inside the homes of detainees and their families. The sabotage operations extended to the camp level, as happened in Jenin camp and Tulkarm. According to the testimonies of families, the extent of the material losses in homes is very large, as the occupation forces deliberately carry out widespread sabotage operations, with the aim of revenge, which also falls within the context of the crime (collective punishment). .
The number of prisoners today in the occupation prisons is about (5,200) prisoners, including (37) female prisoners, and about (170) children, while the number of administrative detainees is (1,264), including (20) children, and four female prisoners: (Raghad Al-Fanni, Samah Awad, Hanan Al-Barghouti, and Fatima Abu Shalal
