8,800 school students participate in ‘Basma’ summer program-Ministry

8,800 ninth graders from Jordanian public, military and UNRWA students are taking part in the national “Basma” (fingerprint) programme. The ministry will launch the summer training programme in the first half of next August, in cooperation with a number of ministries, organizations, official bodies and institutions, and civil society institutions, its statement released on Wednesday said. The programme comes in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision in his 7th Discussion Paper, on developing the educational process to achieve a noble goal in turning schools as labs to hone students’ talents and develop their capabilities. According to the statement, the programme aims to consolidate good citizenship and invest students’ beneficial potentials for society and school. The programme also seeks to enable students to participate in various scouting, volunteering, cultural, artistic, sports and community service activities, developing their skills, refining their talents, and empowering dialogue. On schedule, the ministry said two schools from each educational directorates will take part in the programme’s activities, adding that 100 students in each school will participate over 10 days with 6 working hours per day.
