First Vice President of Board of Directors of Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Jamal Rifai, on Wednesday discussed with Uganda's non-resident ambassador, Isaac Biruma Sebulime, ways to enhance joint cooperation opportunities in the tourism, health, education and consulting sectors. In a statement, Rifai stressed importance of benefiting from Jordan's "central" geographical location and "safe" environment, in strengthening bilateral cooperation, identifying target sectors and focusing on areas with promising opportunities. Rifai noted need to solve problems and difficulties facing the Jordanian-Ugandan trade exchange movement by facilitating procedures to obtain visas and exchanging visits of joint trade delegations to benefit from Jordan's expertise in multiple fields. For his part, Sebulime expressed desire of Ugandan private sector to enhance economic and investment cooperation with Jordan, to develop relations and collaboration to reach a "participatory" approach, which would make Uganda a gateway for Jordan's entry into African markets. The diplomat also noted Uganda has the largest cow milk producers, driven by availability of its pastures, which would ensure increased opportunities for joint cooperation in multiple sectors, foremost are tourism, agriculture, and dairy industry, adding that his country has tropical fruits, several food products, and gold mining sector. The two sides agreed to identify priority sectors and hold virtual sectoral meetings based on an action plan to be agreed upon, stressing importance of exchanging information to learn about "distinguished" sectors in each country and focus on these areas to increase trade exchange volume and transfer expertise as Uganda is a COMESA country, which gives it an advantage at the African level, the statement said
