Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged that the investigation into the death of chief of the Wagner military co. Yevgeny Prigozhin will be thorough and complete. "I've received a report from the head of the investigation committee, Alexander Bastrykin, about the plane crash and the death of Prigozhin," the Russian news agency Tass quoted Putin as saying on Thursday.
Though Prigozhin was "a talented person and a successful businessman," still, he made "serious mistakes," Putin said, noting that the founder of the Wagner was working in the field of oil, gas and precious stones in Africa. Putin noted that Prigozhin had a brutal fate, saying, "he achieved necessary results for the common the good of his country when asked of him, as has happened in recent months." He added Wagner's role in the collective efforts to confront neo-Nazis cannot be forgotten, and "we will always remember." Putin expressed his condolences to the families of the victims who died in the plane crash. Prigozhin and several of his comrades were killed yesterday when their plane crashed en route from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
