Together - Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives, Ahmed Al-Safadi, met on Wednesday with the President of the Egyptian Senate, Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, and they discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two brotherly countries, especially parliamentary ones, in the presence of the Egyptian Ambassador to the Kingdom, Mohamed Samir.
Al-Safadi and Abdel Razek stressed that Jordanian-Egyptian relations are deep-rooted and that coordination between the leadership of both brotherly countries is at its highest levels, as King Abdullah II and his brother, His Excellency Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, are keen to maintain consultation in the service of the nation’s issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, stressing that the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem preserved the identity of the Holy City.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation and the need to move forward with achieving tripartite Jordanian-Egyptian-Iraqi economic cooperation and integration for the benefit of the three sister countries.
Al-Safadi expressed that Jordan has always stood by Egypt in the issue of the Renaissance Dam, stands by its stability, and taken everything it deems appropriate to preserve its national security.
For his part, Abdel Razek stressed the close and historical relations that unite the two brotherly countries, and the congruence of the Egyptian and Jordanian positions regarding the Palestinian issue as it is the first Arab issue, pointing to the importance of joint parliamentary coordination and exchange of experiences. He also appreciated Jordan’s firm positions towards Egypt, especially the position on the Renaissance Dam
