RAMALLAH: President Mahmoud Abbas tonight briefed the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the latest developments regarding the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, especially in the Gaza Strip. During a telephone call, President Abbas stressed the necessity of stopping the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and preventing the displacement of any Palestinian, whether in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including Jerusalem. Both leaders reviewed the efforts made in coordination with Arab countries to stop the Israeli aggression on the entire Palestinian territory, accelerate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip and restore water and electricity there as quickly as possible to enable hospitals and shelter centers to provide immediate relief and help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. President Abbas expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Emir of Qatar for his continued support for the Palestinian cause, praising Q atar's efforts and its firm positions toward the just cause of Palestine. For his part, the Emir of Qatar informed President Abbas of the regional and international efforts calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and de-escalation of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, stressing the necessity of the continued entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip in order to enhance peace and stability in the region.
