ABU DHABI: The General Secretariat of the Federal National Council (FNC) participated in a virtual meeting that brought together the legislative councils of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the parliaments of Latin American countries. The meeting, which was organised by Qatar's Shura Council, in collaboration with the GCC General Secretariat, aimed to discuss cooperation between Gulf legislative councils and their counterparts in Latin America. During the meeting, Afraa Rashid Al Basti, Assistant Secretary-General for Parliamentary Communication at the FNC, engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening the cooperation between the parliaments of Arab GCC countries and Latin American countries. The meeting's participants highlighted the importance of encouraging collaboration through participating in meetings of parliamentary unions and exchanging opinions on issues of mutual concern. The meeting also addressed ways of promoting cooperation and partnerships across political, parliamentar y, economic, and cultural domains, most notably an advisory law on artificial intelligence, currently being studied by the Latin American Parliament, with potential benefits for GCC parliaments.
