Egypt has condemned in the strongest possible terms Israeli airstrikes on an UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip that left scores of innocent civilians dead and wounded. A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry slammed the continued violation of international law by Israeli authorities calling on the Israeli side to stop targeting civilians and to provide protection for safe areas. It called for reaching a ceasefire in the entire Palestinian enclave to end the suffering of the Palestinian people. Reports had said Israeli fighter jets targeted al-Ga'uni School sheltering displaced persons in the camp, killing at least 16 people, some of whom were dismembered, and injuring about 50 others, mostly children and women.
