Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad said Tuesday that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon that began early yesterday rose to 558, including 50 children, and 1,835 people were wounded. In a press conference, Abiad dismissed Israeli allegations that strikes only targeted fighters, stressing that the majority of victims were unarmed civilians. The ministry's Public Health Emergency Operations Center further confirmed that 50 people died and more than 300 were wounded in Tuesday's raids, according to initial figures.
