Ajman: H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has issued Emiri Decree No. (8) of 2024 to establish the Ajman Higher Committee of Energy. This new body will oversee the trading of petroleum products within the Emirate and its free zones, aiming to align the local energy sector with international standards and enhance safety and security measures. According to Emirates News Agency, the decree mandates that the Ajman Higher Committee of Energy will have the legal personality and capacity necessary to perform its functions effectively. It will operate under the supervision of the Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, who will also be responsible for appointing committee members. These members, selected for their expertise and experience in the energy sector, will serve a term of three years. The committee's primary responsibilities include regulating the trading of petroleum products, optimizing service levels in the energy sector, ensuring compliance with federal and local regulations, and enhancing safety protocols within the Emirate. The decree also specifies that any conflicting provisions in other legislations are superseded by this new decree, which will take effect immediately and be published in the Official Gazette.
