PARIS: Kuwait has requested the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to expedite the implementation of decisions related to Palestine and the Gaza Strip, made by its Executive Board and General Conference. According to Kuwait News Agency, the appeal was made during the 220th Session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris. Counselor Mohammed Al-Ajmi, the Charge d'Affaires of Kuwait's Embassy in France and Acting Permanent Representative of Kuwait to UNESCO, delivered a speech underscoring the urgency of the matter. Al-Ajmi emphasized Kuwait's commitment to collaborating with all member states to improve the organization's effectiveness. He highlighted several areas needing attention, including financial aspects and the nomination processes for the Director-General of UNESCO. The meetings of the Executive Board, which commenced on October 9, are scheduled to continue until October 23 at UNESCO's headquarters. Kuwait has been a member of the UNESCO Executive Board since 202 1 and will continue to hold this position until 2025.
