Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, engaged in a crucial telephone discussion with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday, focusing on the escalating crisis in the Middle East, particularly the situations in Gaza and Lebanon. The conversation was pivotal in addressing the need for de-escalation and enhanced humanitarian assistance in the affected areas. According to Jordan News Agency, the call saw Safadi assert the necessity of ceasing the Israeli hostilities in Gaza as an initial move towards calming the tensions. He further called attention to the aggression in Lebanon, advocating for the complete enactment of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a full cessation of hostilities and the establishment of a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. Safadi also brought up the ongoing Israeli escalations in the occupied West Bank and urged for an end to violations at Jerusalem's holy sites, emphasizing the need to respect the h istorically and legally established status quo. Additionally, the two ministers exchanged views on a range of bilateral issues, underscoring the multifaceted nature of the discussions.
