BEIRUT: In a comprehensive interview with Marcel Ghanem on MTV, Samir Geagea, the leader of the Lebanese Forces Party, laid out his vision for Lebanon's future, focusing on the presidency, the role of Hezbollah, and improving relationships with Arab nations. According to National News Agency-Lebanon, Geagea rejected the idea of a ceremonial president, advocating instead for a figure capable of profound national reform. He highlighted the necessity for a president with a definitive agenda, saying, "We do not want a president who simply shines in Baabda Palace." While he is open to the possibility of Army Commander Joseph Aoun becoming president, Geagea emphasized the need to understand Aoun's political program before offering his backing. On the topic of Hezbollah, Geagea's stance was one of integration rather than confrontation. He expressed a desire to see Hezbollah reintegrated into the national framework, appealing to the Shiite community to prioritize national over partisan interests. He noted that ther e is a significant portion of the community that does not align with Hezbollah's strategies. Further, Geagea stressed the critical need to mend and enhance Lebanon's relations with Arab countries, specifically Saudi Arabia, to help rejuvenate the Lebanese economy. He warned that a return to pre-war conditions would hinder these efforts. The interview concluded with Geagea advocating for a Lebanese-led initiative to address the ongoing crisis, endorsing the roadmap proposed by the Lebanese Forces as the optimal solution to bring the conflict to an end.
