Kuwait Enhances Global Security Efforts Through Counterterrorism Workshop

Kuwait City: Kuwait's Assistant Foreign Minister for Development and International Cooperation, Ambassador Hamad Al-Mashaan, has confirmed the country's proactive actions in addressing radicalism and extremism. These remarks were made during the East Africa Working Group (EAWG) workshop hosted by Kuwait, which it co-chairs with Kenya. According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Al-Mashaan emphasized Kuwait's dynamic approach to combating extremism, in collaboration with international partners, during his statement to the press on the sidelines of the workshop. He highlighted the significance of bilateral cooperation in managing the challenges posed by foreign terrorists and ensuring follow-ups on the workshop's outcomes. Kuwait's government, Al-Mashaan noted, is ready to enhance cooperation with allies in counterterrorism efforts and is committed to coordinating with other nations to achieve the objectives set by the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) efficiently. The workshop, which took place on Tuesday and was co-chaired by Kuwait and Kenya, saw significant participation from various stakeholders including the East African Community, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, and members of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact. The focus of this one-day event was on the disengagement, de-radicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration of individuals previously involved with terrorist groups, aiming to foster a collaborative environment for addressing these global security challenges.
