Speaker Berri Engages in High-Level Discussions on Lebanon’s Humanitarian and Political Crisis

AIN EL-TINEH: House Speaker Nabih Berri, in a series of important meetings at the Second Presidency in Ain el-Tineh, engaged with key international and local figures to address Lebanon's ongoing humanitarian and political challenges. The discussions highlighted the intensified efforts to manage the crisis in light of recent regional tensions. According to National News Agency-Lebanon, Berri's first meeting involved Nicolas Von Arx, the International Committee of the Red Cross's (ICRC) Regional Director for the Near and Middle East, and Simone Casabianca Aeshlimann, Head of the ICRC Delegation in Lebanon. The ICRC delegation briefed Speaker Berri on their operations in Lebanon, particularly under the strain of continued aggression from Israel. The day continued with a critical dialogue with former Minister Ghazi Aridi. The talks with Aridi revolved around the general state of the nation, including both political and on-the-ground developments. Lastly, Berri met with Imran Riza, the United Nations Resident C oordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator. Their discussion focused on Lebanon's general conditions, emphasizing the dire humanitarian situation, the ongoing displacement crisis, and the United Nations' operational strategies to tackle these issues.
