Nabatieh: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes conducted in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, which resulted in the tragic deaths of six individuals, including the town's mayor and several humanitarian workers. The airstrikes have raised serious concerns about the escalation of violence in the region. According to Jordan News Agency, spokesperson Jamal Rushdi relayed Aboul Gheit's criticisms, highlighting that the airstrikes were indiscriminate, targeting civilians and infrastructure. Aboul Gheit accused Israel of attempting to extend the severe conditions similar to those in Gaza to Lebanon, indicating a dangerous escalation in military tactics. Further, Aboul Gheit pointed to a significant concern regarding the international response, mentioning that Israeli military actions have continued despite critical voices from Europe condemning the aggressive and inhumane approach. He stressed that such disregard by Israel shows a critical peak in what he described as "Israeli arrogance." The Arab League has called for immediate cessation of hostilities and urged international intervention to prevent further civilian casualties and infrastructural damage in Lebanon, stressing the need for a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing tensions.
