Kuwait Opens New Center for Special Needs in Yemen’s Socotra Archipelago

Hadiboh: Kuwait Society for Students Support on Thursday inaugurated the Kuwait Center for Special Needs Cases, aiming to assist 1,500 students with special needs annually in Hadiboh, the central town of the Socotra archipelago. According to Kuwait News Agency, the new facility is part of the "Kuwait on your side" campaign, which has been active for nearly a decade. The center, covering an 875 square meter plot of land donated by a local landlord, consists of three floors with various classrooms. Some rooms are specifically equipped for formative arts and handicrafts, designed to cater to the diverse needs of its students. Abdullah Al-Sabej, the chairman of the society, expressed during the opening ceremony that the establishment of this center underscores Kuwait's commitment to supporting youth with special needs in the region. He highlighted the center's role in providing tailored educational and creative opportunities that promote skills development and integration into society. The initiative not only aims to offer educational support but also to foster an inclusive environment where students with special needs can thrive. This move by the Kuwaiti society is seen as a significant contribution to the educational landscape in Socotra, providing resources that were previously unavailable in this remote part of Yemen.
