Ukraine’s Zelensky Outlines “Victory Plan” for Peace and NATO Aspiration at EU Summit

Brussels: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a multi-faceted "victory plan" during the European Council Summit in Brussels, which aims at pushing Russia towards diplomatic negotiations and outlines Ukraine's desire to join NATO. The plan also focuses on defense strategies, economic growth, and post-war security architecture. According to Kuwait News Agency, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is prepared to engage in peace negotiations while simultaneously ensuring its defense and growth. The plan, detailed to European leaders, includes five main points that underscore Ukraine's aspirations and strategic preparations against Russian aggression. These points include Kyiv's goal to become a NATO member, bolstering defense capabilities, employing non-nuclear deterrence, stimulating economic growth and cooperation, and establishing a robust post-war security framework. European Council President Charles Michel expressed unwavering support for Ukraine, promising accelerated military and financial aid. Michel affirmed the European Union's commitment to a "comprehensive, just, and lasting peace" grounded in the principles of the UN Charter, highlighting that Ukraine's future lies within the EU. Additionally, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell linked the success of Ukraine's "victory plan" to the broader objectives of a peace plan, advocating for support in both military and civilian realms. The summit, which addressed various critical issues including the situation in the Middle East and irregular migration, was a platform for EU leaders to reiterate their solidarity with Ukraine amid ongoing conflicts.
