Prime Minister Salam Advocates for Women’s Rights and Economic Participation

Beirut:Prime Minister Nawaf Salam emphasized the importance of women's rights in state-building, urging for the elimination of practices that disproportionately burden women and deny them equal opportunities. His remarks were made during the "Women on the Frontlines" conference held at Beirut's Phoenicia Hotel.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Salam questioned society's readiness to change practices that result in women bearing significant responsibilities while being the last to benefit from opportunities. He highlighted the challenges faced by women during displacement, where they often manage family responsibilities under trying conditions.

Salam stressed the state's obligation to ensure that women are not compelled to display extraordinary resilience merely to cope with everyday life. He also emphasized that true stability involves planning for the future without fear, within a state that maintains sole authority over decisions related to war and peace.

The Prime Minister underscored the critical role of women's economic participation, noting that economic recovery is unattainable if women's capabilities remain underutilized. He advocated for an economy that safeguards women, removes barriers to their participation, and converts equal opportunities into substantial employment.
