Jordan King and Italian PM Discuss De-escalation and Humanitarian Aid in Gaza

AMMAN: Jordanian King Abdullah II and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met on Friday to discuss strategies for de-escalating tensions in the Middle East, focusing on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. According to Kuwait News Agency, the leaders emphasized the urgent need to end the Israeli occupation and conflict in both Gaza and Lebanon, highlighting the protection of civilians as a priority. King Abdullah underscored the importance of strengthening humanitarian efforts in Gaza, calling for a sustained flow of medical and relief aid to the region. He also stressed the need to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to ensure it can continue its services under its United Nations mandate. The King further advocated for effective measures to achieve a comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution. The meeting also touched on the necessity of maintaining coordination to improve the response to the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis, aiming t o enhance the effectiveness of international efforts to address this issue.
